Effie Yeaw Nature Center- Birding Expo

The Effie Yeaw Nature Center is located near the America River in Carmichael, Ca.,
were DesertDale grew up at.  (www.sacnaturecenter.net)

The
Effie Yeaw Nature Center is part of a 100-acres of preserve with riparian and oak woodlands, shrub lands, meadows, and water habitats.
This young buck was the first animal we seen on our walk.  We had the pleasure of seeing a few does.
There are self guided trails through out the park.  You have your chose of the one you want.
Last year we seen many birds flying around.    This year there was very few, so some of the birds I am showing we took at another time and place.
We did have the pleasure of spoting this Acorn Woodpecker.  There are some 200 woodpeckers world wide, 23 can be found in the United States.

The trails are equipped with interpretive signage.
This  Snowy Egret was taken at Yolo By-Pass site.  It often looks like dancing shallows.  Many develop long filmy feathers.

Black Crowned Night-Heron is unmistakable with  a black-cap and back and gray wings.

The Marsh Wren
We had the pleasure of taking this photo of the Marsh Wren when we was on one of our runs at the Yollo By-Pass outtings.  They are heard more often then seen.
This White Tail Kite  was taken at The Yolo By-Pass also.  Marvelous site to go birding.  They are often seen perched on a lone treetop.

Hope you enjoy this post, as much as DesertDale and Kitfoxgal had .On our outting today we did not  see that many birds , but was over joyed  by seeing some of the wild animale roaming free.
I must post this one more time, my favorite of the Osprey catching his family dinner at Fish Lake Vally.

Enjoy life.  Kitfoxgal
