Inyo National Forest Adventure

DesertDale took me  on one of his surprise rides, which are always good.  This one is to see the Bristlecone Pines in the Inyo National Forest .  You might get on the lucky side and see black bears. mountain lions, coyotes.  Remember to keep your distant from them.
DesertDale  really had to watch this "Little Guy", almost bet his toe off.

The one thing they stress is do not feed any animals.   Plane ahead, and leave no waste.
This is the one and only wild animal we saw on our adventure.

The Bristlecone Pines are certain stunted pines of arid highlands..  They are believed  to be the oldest known living thing.
There is a Bristlecone pine called the Greatgranddad Pickaback, that is more than 4,600 old.  The mere size of a tree does not mean its age.

We seen very few birds.  One we did see , but no photo,  was a "Swift", don't know what kind.

Being DesertDale did not do that great on the photos, I just had to add this one of a Avocet, that he took here at our site at Fish Lake, just before lunch.

The new Ancient Bristlecone Pine Center, in the Schulman Grove, burnt down . They rebuilt new one, that just open.  An arson burnt the visitors center down in 2009 .  This Center was so new that they did not even know how to work the new computer.
