Vulture Mine Near Wickenburg

DesertDale and Kitfoxgal have enjoyed their ride to the Wickenburg site, plus the few days parked at a site near the mine.  Much to see.

We seen many "Giant Saguaro" such as this one, who had many many arms.  In many Saguaro there might be holes that are doorways of a woodpecker cave. Then after the wood pecker moves out other birds will take over.

A motorcycle rider was killed here near the entrance to Vulture Mine.

Vulture Mine started in 1863, after Henry Wickenburg found quartz deposits having gold in it in 1863.
Then the small town  was started called Vulture City, that once had a population 5,000.   The mine closed and town became a ghost town.  Then a group of investor's bought the mine and called it Vulture Mining Co.

This just one of the buildings still standing that was a working shack.  The next 2 photo just show some of the equipment the used at the mine.

The mine closed in 1942.  Now privately own and are trying to reopen it.   Many more items of interest to see. .

The gates are now open on Saturdays from 9:30am to 10.00am.  Very short time.  We got lucky and hit it just right.
